Loving Switzerland

Loving Switzerland

Have been through geneva, lusanne and Montreax around the lake. Rode out to a place called gruyeres to visit the H..R Giger museum who did the original designs from the movie alien. He recently died which is how
I realised he was Swiss and he had a museum of his stuff close by. He was really into this weird biomechanical art with HEAVY sexual influences. I imagine he was one weird dude. When I upload the photos you will see what Mean

One thing I haven't been whining about (too busy with my knees) is a wrist pain I've been having (pretty much since Spain) I found some new bars and stem but while camping in the bush realised the steerer clamp on the stem was shorter on my old stem and therefore needed an extra steerer spacer. Amazingly hard to find in a country full of cyclists

Oh yeah, so the cycling here is fantastic. They have this fantastic cycling network throughout the whole country and the signage is almost perfect (not fully Reid-proof). Even off the routes they have great bike lanes on most roads and its just a great nation that supports outdoor activity. Hiking, rollerblading, they all have great signed networks everywhere.

On my way from gruyeres to
Montreax I took one of the smaller routes. If I have of known what was ahead I probably would have gone the other way
But it turned to be this crazy stoney trail that took me up to 1500m elevation. The trail was so steep and rough I doubt I could have cycles it ony mountain bike, let alone a loaded tourer. It tooke 5 hours of pushing ((pushing off the bike). Very tough afternoon but cool as I was
The only idiot going up the amazingly beautiful valley.

So I didn't get out of
Montreax until 3pm finding the part and getting the
New setup
Right. I was off to enter the
Main valley heading into alps!

Ok so then I realised I'd left my towel hanging at the camp grounds I stayed at.....
12km later I was back on track!

I enered the valley and the new bar setup is so much better. Ive realised The goofey touring bars I used in the Asia trip were not as good as I had thought. The bike is much more "fun" to ride.

That and the combination of the
Most amazing scenery, great cycling tracks and a tailwind to boot! I had such a good day yesterday and despite leaving so late, did 78km. Even found an awesome
Camp spot. It rained all night and into the early morning so I thought today would be bad
But it's an absolute beautiful day. However the luck has
Run out as
The
Pass that I was intending to cross has been delayed to open from winter. So I may not get
Through, there is a train that goes through but hoping a miracle happens and I can cycle through (and over)!

Meeting Marlene in innsbruk, Austria on the 30th via Lichtenstein so have to get
Moving!
